Job summary

Sabenza IT & Recruitment in Johannesburg seeks a senior Platform Engineer to design and deliver scalable, production-grade internal developer platforms and self-service capabilities for engineering teams. You will apply deep AWS and Kubernetes expertise, implement GitOps with ArgoCD/Flux, and drive IaC with Terraform, Pulumi or Crossplane to enable reliable, cloud-native solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Platform Engineering building self-service platforms.
• 6+ years of experience with Public Cloud, with strong hands-on AWS experience.
• 6+ years of containerisation and container platforms.
• Strong experience with Kubernetes GitOps using ArgoCD / Flux and Helm/Kustomize.
• Strong experience implementing monitoring/observability with CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, Loki and X-Ray.
• Strong understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions and GitLab CI/CD.
• Hands-on with Crossplane, ArgoCD and Backstage.
• Proven experience building Kubernetes Operators.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain self-service platforms and abstractions used by other engineering teams.
• Implement and operate monitoring/observability for cloud-native platforms (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana).
• Develop Kubernetes Operators and platform tooling to enable scalable, reliable internal platforms.
