Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Pharmaceutical Quality Control Analyst to join a leading pharmaceutical innovator in Midrand, Gauteng. You will conduct analytical testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, and other techniques, ensure GLP/GMP compliance, and mentor junior staff.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's or Master's in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field with 5+ years in quality control and method development/validation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field.
• 5+ years' experience in pharmaceutical quality control with analytical focus.
• Experience in method development and validation.
• Knowledge of ICH, GMP, GLP guidelines.
• Excellent data interpretation and problem-solving skills.
• Strong English verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work independently and in a team; supervisory experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Conduct analytical testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR.
• Develop, validate, and transfer analytical methods per regulatory guidelines.
• Interpret data, troubleshoot deviations, and prepare investigation reports.
• Maintain laboratory equipment with calibration and qualification.
• Ensure GLP and GMP compliance across laboratory activities.
• Collaborate with R&D, production, and regulatory affairs to resolve quality issues.
• Mentor and train junior analysts on testing procedures and standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of QC processes and lab operations.
• Prepare and review test methods, validation reports, and certificates of analysis.
• Participate in audits and ensure readiness and compliance.
