Placements24 seeks a Senior Pharmaceutical Quality Control Analyst to join a leading pharmaceutical innovator in Midrand, Gauteng. You will conduct analytical testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, and other techniques, ensure GLP/GMP compliance, and mentor junior staff.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's or Master's in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field with 5+ years in quality control and method development/validation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field.
• 5+ years' experience in pharmaceutical quality control with analytical focus.
• Experience in method development and validation.
• Knowledge of ICH, GMP, GLP guidelines.
• Excellent data interpretation and problem-solving skills.
• Strong English verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work independently and in a team; supervisory experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Conduct analytical testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR.
• Develop, validate, and transfer analytical methods per regulatory guidelines.
• Interpret data, troubleshoot deviations, and prepare investigation reports.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive analytical testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished pharmaceutical products using advanced analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR).


• Develop, validate, and transfer analytical methods in compliance with regulatory guidelines (e.g., ICH, FDA, SAHPRA).


• Interpret complex analytical data, troubleshoot method deviations, and prepare detailed investigation reports.


• Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring calibration, qualification, and proper functioning.


• Ensure all laboratory activities comply with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).


• Collaborate with R&D, production, and regulatory affairs departments to resolve quality issues and support product lifecycle management.


• Mentor and train junior analysts, providing guidance on testing procedures and compliance standards.


• Contribute to the continuous improvement of quality control processes and laboratory operations.


• Prepare and review analytical documentation, including test methods, validation reports, and certificates of analysis.


• Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring readiness and compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related life science field.


• Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical quality control, with a strong focus on analytical chemistry.


• Proven expertise in various analytical instrumentation and their applications (HPLC, GC, MS, spectroscopy).


• In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and guidelines (ICH, GMP, GLP) within the pharmaceutical industry.


• Experience in method development and validation.


• Excellent data interpretation and problem-solving skills.


• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
