Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly qualified Petroleum Geoscientist to join their exploration team in Mossel Bay. You will integrate seismic, well, core, and production data to build subsurface models and identify viable exploration prospects with strong risk and reward judgments.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s or PhD in geoscience and at least six years of petroleum exploration experience, with proficiency in Petrel or GeoGraphix and advanced mapping skills.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in geoscience or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of petroleum exploration experience.
• Strong seismic interpretation, structural geology, and sequence stratigraphy skills.
• Proficiency with Petrel or GeoGraphix and related software.
• Experience in prospect risk assessment and volumetric calculations.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Integrate seismic, well log, core, and production data to develop subsurface models.
• Identify and rank exploration prospects based on geological risk and reward.
• Use geological software for basin analysis and mapping.
• Collaborate with reservoir and drilling engineers to optimize strategies.
• Prepare technical reports and recommendations for campaigns.
• Stay updated on new geoscience technologies and methods.
