Job summary
Placements24 is seeking a Petroleum Geologist to join our exploration and production team in Richards Bay, South Africa. You will identify hydrocarbon prospects, characterize reservoirs, and support drilling operations through detailed geological analysis.
The role requires a Master's or PhD in Geology or related Earth Science, at least six years in petroleum exploration, and proficiency with Petrel and Kingdom.
Qualifications
- Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, or related Earth Science discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in petroleum exploration and development geology.
- Proficiency with Petrel and Kingdom and seismic interpretation software.
Responsibilities
- Interpret seismic data, well logs, and core samples to delineate potential hydrocarbon reservoirs.
- Build and refine 3D geological models of subsurface structures.
- Collaborate with reservoir engineers and geophysicists to assess prospect viability and risks.
- Develop geological reports and present findings to management and exploration teams.
- Provide geological support during drilling operations, including real-time well correlation and hazard identification.
- Contribute to regional geological studies and basin analysis.
