Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geology with a petroleum specialization.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Petroleum Geologist to join their exploration team based in Mossel Bay . This is a field-based role requiring your presence at our client's facilities. You will play a crucial role in exploring for and evaluating hydrocarbon resources, contributing directly to the company's exploration strategy. This position demands a geologist with a deep understanding of sedimentary basins, depositional environments, and structural geology. You will work closely with geophysicists and reservoir engineers to assess prospectivity and manage geological risks within the Oil & Gas sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze core samples, well logs, and seismic data to interpret geological formations and identify potential reservoir targets.
• Develop and refine regional and prospect-level geological models.
• Evaluate exploration acreage and provide geological input for licensing rounds and farm-in/farm-out opportunities.
• Collaborate with geophysicists and reservoir engineers on integrated subsurface studies.
• Prepare detailed geological reports, maps, and cross-sections for internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geology or a related earth science discipline, with a specialization in petroleum geology.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Petroleum Geologist in the oil and gas industry .
• Strong understanding of sequence stratigraphy, sedimentology, and structural geology.
• Experience with geological modeling software (e.g., Petrel, GeoGraphix).
• Excellent analytical, communication, and teamwork skills, with a commitment to working on-site in Mossel Bay .
