Placements24 is seeking a Senior Process Engineer for our client in Midrand, Gauteng. You will lead process design, simulation, and scale‑up across challenging chemical projects, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, efficient, and innovative solutions.

The role requires at least 8 years in chemical process engineering, strong PFD/P&ID skills, and experience with HAZOP/PHAs. Pr.Eng designation is advantageous; join a global organization driving cutting-edge chemical

Qualifications

• B.Eng. or B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in process engineering within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
• Proven expertise in process design, simulation, and optimization software.
• Strong understanding of chemical reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
• Demonstrated experience in leading PHA studies and implementing safety protocols.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills; strong leadership capabilities.
• Proficiency in interpreting P&IDs and PFDs; strong communication skills.
• Pr.Eng. designation is highly advantageous.

Responsabilités

• Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes to improve yield, efficiency, and safety.
• Conduct process simulations and modeling using industry-standard software (Aspen HYSYS, PRO/II).
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex operational issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Prepare detailed PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications.
• Lead PHAs such as HAZOP studies.
• Manage process engineering projects from concept to commissioning.
• Collaborate to scale up processes from lab to pilot and commercial scale.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and best practices.
