Placements24 invites a Senior Pavement Engineer to Bloemfontein to lead design and evaluation of pavement systems for roads, highways, and airfields. You will guide projects, mentor junior staff, and implement durable pavement solutions across the Free State using latest materials and design methods.

The role requires a BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering (Pavement specialization), 8+ years' experience, and proficiency with KenPAVE and EVERCALC, with site visits and client liaison in a hybrid work

Qualificações

• BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering with Pavement Specialization.
• Minimum 8 years' experience in pavement design and analysis.
• Pr.Eng registration or ECSA eligibility preferred.
• Proficient in pavement design software and PMS/LCCA.
• Strong communication and report-writing skills.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the civil engineering and infrastructure sector, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Pavement Engineer to be based in Bloemfontein . This role is critical for the design, evaluation, and management of pavement systems for roads, highways, and airfields. You will lead complex projects, provide expert technical advice, and contribute to the development of sustainable and durable pavement solutions across Free State and beyond. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of pavement materials, design methodologies, and construction practices, combined with excellent analytical and leadership skills. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and rehabilitation of flexible and rigid pavement structures for various transportation projects.
• Conduct pavement condition surveys, material testing, and forensic investigations.
• Develop pavement design models and perform analysis using industry-standard software (e.g., KENPAVE, EVERCALC).
• Prepare detailed pavement design reports, specifications, and construction documentation.
• Oversee pavement construction and quality control activities on-site.
• Liaise with clients, government authorities, and other stakeholders regarding pavement design and performance.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior pavement engineers and technicians.
• Stay current with advancements in pavement engineering technologies and materials.
• Contribute to research and development initiatives in pavement engineering.

Requirements

• BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Pavement Engineering.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in pavement engineering design and analysis.
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) registration or eligibility with ECSA is preferred.
• Proficiency in pavement design software and tools.
• In-depth knowledge of pavement materials (asphalt, concrete, granular materials) and their behavior.
• Experience with pavement management systems (PMS) and life-cycle cost analysis.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage client relationships.
• Willingness to undertake site visits as required, combining remote work with office presence in Bloemfontein .
