Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Civil Engineer with expertise in roads and pavements to join our client in Upington, Northern Cape. The role covers planning, design, and supervision of road infrastructure projects to support regional connectivity.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Pr Eng registration, and at least six years of experience, with hands-on experience in pavement design software and AutoCAD Civil 3D. Travel to project sites will be required.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Civil Engineer with expertise in Roads and Pavements to join their team in Upington, Northern Cape . This role is central to the planning, design, and supervision of road infrastructure projects, contributing to the development and maintenance of vital transportation networks in the region. You will be involved in all phases of project development, from feasibility studies and detailed design to construction supervision and quality assurance. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of pavement design, materials, traffic engineering principles, and road construction methodologies. Key Responsibilities

• Design and plan road alignments, intersection layouts, and pavement structures.
• Conduct pavement analysis and design using industry-standard software and methodologies.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents for road projects.
• Oversee and manage road construction activities, ensuring compliance with designs and quality standards.
• Conduct site investigations, including soil surveys and material testing evaluations.
• Perform traffic studies and safety analyses for proposed road developments.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant South African National Standards (SANS) and road design guidelines.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources effectively.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure smooth project execution.
• Provide technical support and mentorship to junior engineering staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is essential.
• Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in roads and pavements engineering.
• Proven experience in pavement design software (e.g., AASHTOWare Pavement ME, EverCalc) and geometric design tools (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D).
• Strong knowledge of road materials, construction techniques, and quality control procedures.
• Familiarity with traffic engineering principles and road safety audits.
• Excellent project management, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a project team.
• Willingness to travel to project sites within the Upington, Northern Cape region.
• Valid driver's license.
