Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Mine Manager to oversee an open-pit operation near Cape Town. The role demands safe, cost-efficient extraction and strong leadership of engineers, supervisors, and operators.

You will develop strategic mine plans, manage budgets, ensure regulatory compliance, and liaise with regulators and communities. A Bachelor's in Mining Engineering and a track record of 10+ years in mine management are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field is required.
• 10+ years in mine management with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Expertise in mine planning, production scheduling, and risk management.
• Strong knowledge of heavy mining equipment and maintenance practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional registration with a relevant industry body is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic mine plans to optimize production and efficiency.
• Ensure health, safety, and environmental regulations are followed to promote zero-harm culture.
• Lead a diverse team of mining professionals including engineers and operators.
• Oversee maintenance and utilization of mining equipment and machinery.
• Manage budgets, costs and identify opportunities for savings and efficiency.
