Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to lead the planning and design of mining operations in Klerksdorp, North West. You will develop long-term mine plans, optimize production methods, and employ advanced modeling software to drive safe, efficient extraction.

The role requires a strong background in mine planning and design, with experience across underground and open-pit methods, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet targets and ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering required.
• 8+ years in mine planning, design and operations.
• Proficiency in mine planning software (Deswik, Vulcan).
• Knowledge of mining methods, economics, and risks.
• Geotechnical knowledge impacting design.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and update long-term and short-term mine plans with geological data and production targets.
• Design and optimize mining methods, layouts, and sequences for underground/open-pit operations.
• Use Deswik/Vulcan for modeling and simulation of plans.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new projects or expansions.
• Ensure safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance in mine design.
• Collaborate with operations, geotechnical, and survey teams to integrate plans.
