Job summary

Our client in Benoni, Gauteng seeks a Mine Ventilation Engineer to design, implement and manage underground ventilation systems, ensuring air quality, temperature control and safety.

The role requires a background in mining or mechanical engineering with ventilation specialization, 5+ years in mine ventilation, and expertise in Ventsim or similar software. On-site work in Benoni is expected with opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining or Mechanical Engineering with ventilation specialization.
• 5+ years of experience in mine ventilation engineering, preferably underground.
• Proficiency with ventilation modeling software (Ventsim/Ventsim Control).
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and dust/gas dispersion modeling.
• Understanding of SA mine health and safety legislation related to ventilation.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize mine ventilation networks for adequate airflow and contaminant dilution.
• Conduct airflow measurements and ventilation surveys; identify improvement areas in Benoni.
• Develop strategies to manage heat, dust, and noxious gases underground.
• Specify and oversee installation and maintenance of ventilation fans, ducting, and equipment.
• Perform heat load calculations and design cooling systems where needed.
