Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mine Ventilation Engineer for our client in Pretoria, Gauteng. The role ensures optimal air quality and safety in underground operations by designing and managing comprehensive ventilation systems.

Responsibilities include modelling ventilation networks, conducting surveys, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. A Bachelor's degree in Mining/Mechanical with ventilation specialization and 8+ years of underground experience are required; PrEng is desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining or Mechanical Engineering with ventilation specialization.
• 8+ years of hands-on underground mine ventilation experience.
• Proficiency with ventilation modelling tools such as Ventsim, VentCAD or Whisper.

Responsibilities

• Design, model, and implement mine ventilation systems for underground operations.
• Conduct ventilation surveys measuring air velocity, pressure, and gas concentrations.
• Develop and manage ventilation plans compliant with safety standards and regulations.
• Specify ventilation equipment including fans, ducting, and monitoring systems.
• Perform heat and stress modelling to assess thermal conditions.
• Analyse network performance for energy efficiency and optimization.
• Provide guidance and training to ventilation officers and staff.
• Liaise with management, safety, and regulatory bodies on ventilation matters.
• Maintain records and reports on ventilation performance and compliance.
