Job summary

Placements24 in East London, Eastern Cape seeks a Senior Mine Surveyor to lead surveying tasks for surface mining and related infrastructure near East London.

You will ensure accuracy of topographic surveys, perform volumetric calculations for earthworks and stockpiles, establish precise control, and deliver reliable survey deliverables in collaboration with mine operations, engineering and construction teams.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mine Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 6 years' experience in mine surveying with surface operations emphasis.
• Proficient with total stations, GPS/GNSS, and digital levels.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D; strong data processing skills.
• Familiarity with SA survey legislation and mining practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform topographic surveys, setting out, and volume calculations for open-pit mines, infrastructure, and construction projects.
• Establish and maintain geodetic control networks for surface operations.
• Process survey data using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS and related software.
• Prepare survey plans and reports for project phases.
• Collaborate with mine engineers, geologists, and construction managers to provide essential survey support.
• Maintain surveying instruments and equipment, and supervise junior surveyors.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
