Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Mine Survey Manager to lead on-site surveying operations in Soweto, Gauteng, covering surface and underground environments. You will supervise a team of surveyors, establish control networks for planning and production, and coordinate with planning, geology and engineering to supply essential spatial data.

The role requires a degree or diploma in Surveying/Geomatics, PLATO registration, and at least 6 years in mine surveying with supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Diploma/degree in Surveying or Geomatics and relevant professional registration.
• Minimum 6 years in mine surveying with supervisory experience.
• Proficiency with survey software and instruments such as AutoCAD, LISCAD, GPS, and laser scanners.

Responsibilities

• Lead mine surveying activities across surface and underground environments.
• Establish and maintain control networks for planning and production.
• Oversee data collection and processing using advanced equipment and software.
• Ensure accuracy of mine plans, cross-sections, and volumetric calculations.
• Manage survey instruments including total stations, GPS, and laser scanners.
• Train and mentor junior surveyors.
• Ensure compliance with surveying standards, regulations and policies.
• Collaborate with mining, geology and engineering teams for spatial data.
• Prepare and present survey reports and data to management.
• Implement new surveying technologies to improve efficiency.
