Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mine Planner to join its client in Paarl, Western Cape. You will develop and optimize long- and short-term mine plans to ensure safe, cost-effective extraction aligned with production targets.

The role requires a Mining Engineering degree, 7+ years' planning experience, and proficiency with Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac. You will collaborate with geologists, engineers, and operations to deliver feasible, compliant plans.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in mine planning and design for open-pit and/or underground operations.
• Proficiency with Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac or equivalent software.
• Strong understanding of mining methods, geology, and mine economics.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and spatial reasoning skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and update integrated mine plans across long-, medium-, and short-term schedules.
• Design pit layouts, underground designs, and production sequences using planning software.
• Collaborate with geologists, engineers and operations to align plans with reality.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations of planning scenarios.

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mine Planner to join their team in Paarl, Western Cape . This critical role involves developing and optimizing long-term and short-term mine plans to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective extraction of resources. You will utilize advanced planning software and geological data to create schedules that align with production targets and company objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical aptitude and a proven ability to translate geological and engineering constraints into viable mining plans within the mining industry .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and update integrated mine plans, including strategic long-term, medium-term, and short-term schedules.
• Utilize mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac) to design pit layouts, underground mine designs, and production sequences.
• Collaborate closely with geologists, engineers, and operations personnel to integrate geological models and operational realities into plans.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations related to mine planning scenarios.
• Monitor plan adherence, analyze deviations, and implement revisions as required to optimize production and minimize costs.
• Ensure all mine plans comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
