Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Mine Electrical Engineer to lead electrical engineering functions at its Sandton facilities. You will design, install, maintain, and manage electrical systems across mining operations, ensuring reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance.

You will oversee projects, mentor engineers and technicians, and drive safety-first practices, power distribution, high-voltage equipment, and instrumentation.

Qualifications

• B.Eng or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Pr Eng or Tech Eng is essential.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in electrical engineering, with significant mining/heavy industrial exposure.
• Strong knowledge of high-voltage systems, power generation, distribution and protection.
• Experience with project management and leading electrical teams.
• Excellent understanding of safety protocols and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage electrical systems, including power distribution, motor control and instrumentation.
• Oversee maintenance and repair of electrical equipment, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Ensure all electrical installations and operations comply with South African electrical regulations and safety standards.
• Manage electrical engineering projects from conception to completion within budget and schedule.
• Conduct electrical risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
• Lead and mentor a team of electrical engineers, technicians, and artisans.
