Placements24 client, a prominent manufacturer of heavy machinery and industrial components, seeks a Mechanical Stress Engineer in East London, Eastern Cape. You will lead stress analyses using FEA tools to verify designs, improve durability, and ensure regulatory compliance in demanding environments.

The role requires 5+ years in mechanical stress analysis, strong solid mechanics knowledge, and experience with ANSYS or Abaqus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in mechanical stress analysis.
• Expertise in using FEA software such as ANSYS or Abaqus.
• Strong understanding of solid mechanics and material properties.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed stress, strain, and fatigue analysis on components using FEA.
• Develop analytical models representing component behavior under load.
• Interpret FEA results and provide recommendations to design team.
• Collaborate with designers to optimize geometry for strength and weight.
• Validate results with experimental data where available.
• Ensure designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of analysis methodologies.
• Prepare technical reports detailing procedures and findings.
• Stay updated with advancements in stress analysis techniques.
• Support product development lifecycle from concept to production.
