Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Stress Analyst to join our engineering team in Pretoria. You will perform advanced FEA, develop analytical models, and collaborate with design engineers to optimize components for durability under varied conditions.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years of experience in mechanical stress analysis and a strong background in solid mechanics, material science, and fracture mechanics, with a proven track record in hybrid work environments.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with specialization in solid mechanics or computational mechanics.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience specifically in mechanical stress analysis and FEA.
• Extensive experience with FEA software packages and pre/post-processors.
• Strong theoretical foundation in solid mechanics, material science, and fracture mechanics.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work model, balancing on-site and remote collaboration.
• Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct advanced finite element analysis (FEA) to evaluate stress, strain, fatigue, and deformation in mechanical components.
• Develop and validate analytical models using industry-standard software such as ANSYS, Abaqus, or similar tools.
• Interpret simulation results and provide clear, actionable recommendations to design engineers.
• Perform modal analysis, thermal analysis, and dynamic response simulations.
• Collaborate with the design team to optimize component geometry and material selection for improved performance and durability.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in stress analysis techniques and simulation technologies.
