Job summary

Avi Pvt Ltd seeks a Senior Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to lead the mechanical maintenance department in Randburg, Gauteng. You will strategize, plan, and optimize maintenance activities to maximize uptime and equipment reliability.

You will manage a team of technicians, control budgets, implement predictive and preventive programs, and drive continuous improvement while upholding the highest safety standards in a busy manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 7 years in mechanical maintenance; at least 3 years in supervision.
• Expertise in rotating equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, and conveyors.
• Experience with predictive maintenance technologies (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography).
• Strong safety posture and regulatory knowledge.
• Proficiency with CMMS.
• Willingness to be on standby in Randburg.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage mechanical maintenance strategies (preventive and predictive).
• Lead, train, and mentor a team of mechanical maintenance technicians; ensure safety compliance.
• Oversee maintenance and repair of plant equipment (machinery, pumps, compressors, conveyors).
• Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical failures; perform root cause analysis.
• Manage spare parts inventory and procurement.
• Develop and manage the maintenance budget; control costs.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with production and engineering to minimize disruptions and improve reliability.
• Implement best practices for maintenance and reliability engineering.
• Review and approve maintenance procedures and documentation.
