Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to lead the on-site maintenance of all mechanical equipment at our Vereeniging facility in Gauteng. You will manage a team of technicians, plan preventive maintenance, and drive reliability improvements to minimize downtime.

The ideal candidate brings 7+ years in mechanical maintenance with at least 3 years in supervision within heavy industry, plus strong CMMS and safety knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• 7+ years in mechanical maintenance; 3+ years in supervision in oil & gas or heavy industry.
• Experience with pumps, compressors, turbines, gearboxes and related machinery.
• Knowledge of CMMS systems (SAP PM, Maximo) and predictive maintenance tech.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Safety, permit-to-work, and regulatory compliance knowledge.
• Willing to relocate to Vereeniging; on-site role.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily mechanical maintenance team activities.
• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical failures.
• Oversee repair/overhaul of rotating and static equipment.
• Ensure safety protocols during maintenance.
• Manage spare parts inventory.
• Conduct performance reviews and train staff.
• Maintain maintenance records and reports on equipment reliability.
• Collaborate with production and engineering to minimize disruption.
• Ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
