Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Maintenance Technician for our client in Randburg, Gauteng. The role focuses on keeping complex industrial machinery reliable, with strong emphasis on mechanical and electrical maintenance, diagnostics, and preventative strategies.

You will read technical drawings, install and test new equipment, and lead safety-focused maintenance efforts to minimise downtime. Based in Randburg with exposure to PLC-driven systems.

Qualifications

• Must hold a relevant trade qualification (Electrician/Mechanical Fitter).
• Minimum of 5 years in a Senior Maintenance Technician role in industrial/manufacturing.
• Proficient in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical systems, including PLCs.
• Strong ability to read/interpret technical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on industrial machinery and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults promptly.
• Install, commission, and test new machinery as required.
• Read manuals and schematics to guide repair work.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and parts used.
• Follow safety protocols during all operations.
• Troubleshoot complex issues to minimize downtime.
• Contribute to maintenance procedures and schedules.
• Mentor junior technicians and provide technical guidance.
