Job summary

Communicate Recruitment is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer (HVAC & Building Services) in Randburg, Gauteng. You will lead the mechanical design of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for high-profile building projects and mentor a growing team of engineers and designers.

You will develop detailed designs, calculations, and drawings, manage budgets and schedules, and collaborate with architects and clients to ensure compliance with codes and energy standards.

Qualifications

• Lead HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design for complex buildings.
• Experience in mechanical building services design for commercial/industrial projects.
• Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams.
• Strong knowledge of energy efficiency and codes.
• Experience with design software like AutoCAD MEP and Revit MEP.
• Ability to prepare technical reports and proposals.
• Excellent communication and client liaison skills.
• Mentor junior engineers and guide design teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for complex building projects.
• Develop detailed engineering designs, calculations, specifications, and drawings using relevant software.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation for mechanical engineering aspects.
• Mentor and guide junior mechanical engineers and designers, fostering technical development.
• Collaborate effectively with architects, electrical engineers, structural engineers, and clients.
• Conduct site inspections, commissioning, and provide technical support during construction phases.
• Ensure designs comply with national building codes, energy efficiency standards, and client requirements.
• Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations for clients and stakeholders.
