Job summary

Globe 24-7, in partnership with a leading mining company, seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer - Mining Services & Waste Management to join our team. The role covers senior technical leadership across mining and waste projects, with a focus on site design, planning and remote operations.

You will review technical requirements, develop practical engineering solutions, support mobilisations, installations and commissioning, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring safety and regulatory

Qualifications

• BSc/BEng/BTech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• 20+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Strong experience in mining, ideally tailings, slurry, waste management, pumping or related infrastructure.
• Demonstrable experience with site design and site preparation.
• Proven technical and practical engineering knowledge.
• Experience on remote mining sites and challenging environments.
• Willingness to travel extensively across Africa.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior mechanical engineering expertise across mining and waste management projects.
• Assist with site design, engineering planning and site preparation.
• Review requirements and develop practical engineering solutions for challenging site conditions.
• Provide input into design, installation and operation of mechanical systems and equipment.
• Support project teams during mobilisation, construction, installation and commissioning.
• Conduct site visits and provide hands-on technical support when required.
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues in remote environments.
• Review drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical docs.
• Work with project managers, site teams, contractors and clients.
• Mentor junior engineers and site personnel.
• Ensure activities comply with safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
• Travel extensively to remote mining operations across Africa.
