Job summary

MECS Africa in South Africa seeks a senior engineer with dual mechanical and electrical expertise. You will own design data, repair methods and deviations, while setting standards for rotating machines and pump overhaul.

The role requires guiding tender content, audits, and technical queries across projects, with site and factory travel. The candidate should have Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng status, eight years post-qualification in heavy industrial repair, and proven experience with IEC/IEEE/API

Qualifications

BEng / BTech / National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng.
Eight years post-qualification in heavy industrial repair, OEM, power, mining, rail or similar.
Must have signed off both electrical and mechanical work.

Responsibilities

Own design data, repair methods, concessions and deviations.
Cover both mechanical and electrical disciplines: shafts, pumps, motors, windings, protection and testing.
Set the technical standard for rotating machines, pump overhaul, and site installation/commissioning.
Write and review bids, scope, programme, and quality planning for tenders and OEM projects.
Coach Production teams and sign off senior winders; lead complex failure investigations.
