Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for an on-site role in Sandton to lead mechanical design, integration, and testing of energy storage systems including battery packs for grid-scale and EV applications.

You will collaborate with electrical engineers and manufacturing teams, applying expertise in thermal management, structural analysis, and safety standards to ensure performance and reliability across products.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of mechanical design experience, with electromechanical systems or battery tech.
• Strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles and safety standards.
• Experience with thermal management and system testing.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components and enclosures for energy storage systems.
• Perform thermal analysis and design cooling for battery packs.
• Conduct structural and vibration analysis for dynamic environments.
• Specify materials and manufacturing processes for mechanical components.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers on system integration.
• Develop and execute testing plans for mechanical components and full systems.
• Support product validation and certification processes.
• Troubleshoot mechanical design issues and implement solutions.
• Work with manufacturing teams to optimize production.
