Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Vereeniging to lead design, development, and validation of automotive systems, ensuring performance and regulatory compliance.

The role requires 10+ years in automotive mechanical design, a Mechanical Engineering degree (Master's preferred), and strong CATIA/ANSYS skills, plus leadership and collaboration with suppliers.

You will mentor junior engineers and drive technical excellence across the engineering team in Gauteng.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in automotive mechanical design and development.
• Deep understanding of automotive systems and components.
• Proficiency in CATIA and ANSYS.
• Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of automotive mechanical systems, including powertrain, chassis, or thermal management components.
• Conduct detailed engineering analysis, including FEA and CFD, to optimize performance, durability, and safety.
• Manage product development cycles from concept to production, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.
• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure component quality and manufacturability.
• Develop and execute validation test plans, analyze results, and implement necessary design modifications.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical growth of the engineering department in Vereeniging.
