Placements24 is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join its automotive R&D team in Kimberley, Northern Cape. You will drive design, modeling, simulation, and prototype testing across advanced vehicle systems, collaborating with cross-functional engineers to push performance and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years in mechanical design or R&D, preferably automotive.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, Inventor).
• Experience with FEA and/or CFD simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, powertrain systems, or advanced materials.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and experimental design skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage research projects.
• Willingness to relocate to Kimberley, Northern Cape.

Responsibilities

• Conduct R&D activities for new automotive mechanical systems and components.
• Design, model, and simulate mechanical systems using CAD/CAE tools.
• Build and test prototypes and analyze performance data.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary R&D team including electrical engineers, materials scientists, and software developers.
• Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and materials for automotive applications.
• Document research findings, experimental results, and design specifications.
• Troubleshoot technical challenges and propose innovative solutions.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and future automotive requirements.
• Contribute to IP generation through patents and publications.
• Ensure R&D activities align with business objectives and timelines.
