Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in George, Western Cape to lead conceptualization, design, and refinement of critical automotive components. You will use CAD tools to create robust, manufacturable solutions and validate them through prototypes and testing.

You will collaborate across teams to ensure performance, safety, and aesthetic goals are met while advancing cutting-edge automotive technologies in a dynamic, growth‑oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks/CATIA or similar automotive CAD software.
• Experience with FEA and design for manufacturing (DFM).

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize and design mechanical systems and components for vehicles using CAD tools.
• Perform detailed FEA simulations to analyze stress, thermal, and vibration characteristics.
• Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness of designs.
• Develop and refine prototypes, conduct testing, and analyze results to validate performance.
• Prepare technical documentation including 3D models, drawings, and BOM.
• Stay abreast of latest automotive technologies and engineering best practices.
