Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a site-based role in Upington, Northern Cape. You will lead design and development of mechanical components and assemblies, guiding concepts through to production.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, at least seven years' experience, strong CAD skills (SolidWorks/CATIA), and familiarity with FEA, materials science and manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Solid CAD skills (SolidWorks/CATIA) and basic finite element analysis (FEA).
• Knowledge of material science, manufacturing processes and system dynamics.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage design projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies using advanced CAD software.
• Perform detailed engineering analysis, including stress, thermal, and vibration calculations.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimized for production feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and BOMs.
• Conduct design reviews and mentor junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities
