Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Benoni to lead the design, development and improvement of heavy mining equipment. You will perform calculations, oversee prototypes, and ensure reliability in extreme environments.

Ideal candidates bring 7+ years in heavy machinery design, advanced CAD (Inventor/SolidWorks) and FEA expertise, with teamwork and project management skills. On-site presence required for collaboration and hands-on work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive mechanical design experience in heavy machinery/mining equipment.
• Expert proficiency in 3D CAD software and FEA simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of materials science, hydraulics, and power transmission systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop complex mechanical systems and assemblies for heavy mining equipment using CAD tools (Inventor, SolidWorks).
• Perform detailed engineering calculations including stress, fatigue, thermal, and vibration analyses using FEA tools.
• Produce manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications.
• Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, testing and field service to ensure design integrity.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in design reviews to drive project success.
