Placements24 in partnership with a leading mining equipment manufacturer in Rustenburg, North West, seeks a Mechanical Engineer with 6+ years of design experience to lead heavy-duty projects from concept to production.

You will design and optimize mechanical systems, perform stress and fatigue analyses, collaborate with R&D and manufacturing, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance while delivering robust, innovative machinery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 6+ years of mechanical design experience in heavy machinery.
• Proficient in CAD and FEA tools with strong analysis skills.
• Experience in mining equipment or heavy industry preferred.
• Ability to manage complex design projects from concept to completion.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and modify mechanical systems for heavy mining equipment using CAD.
• Conduct stress, fatigue, and reliability analyses for safety and longevity.
• Collaborate with R&D to drive innovation in product lines.
• Coordinate with manufacturing and QA to optimize for production and quality.
• Produce engineering drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions.
• Provide technical support during assembly, testing, and commissioning.
• Troubleshoot failures and implement design changes to prevent recurrence.
• Stay updated on industry practices, materials, and technologies relevant to mining.
• Ensure designs comply with safety and environmental standards.
