Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design of mechanical components for energy sector projects in Nelspruit. You will apply advanced CAD, simulations and rigorous analysis to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions.

You will collaborate with electrical engineers and project managers, review designs, and stay current with materials and energy industry trends while supporting professional development.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years in mechanical design within energy sectors (power gen/renewables/oil & gas).
• Proficiency in 3D CAD and engineering simulation tools.
• Strong thermo-fluid science knowledge and materials understanding.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of components and systems for energy sector applications.
• Perform detailed engineering calculations and simulations (stress, thermal, fluid dynamics).
• Use CAD to create and manage design models, drawings, and BOMs.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers, PMs, and field technicians.
• Perform design reviews and optimize for performance and manufacturability.
• Stay current with emerging energy tech and materials.
