About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the industrial sector, is seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Maintenance Supervisor to oversee maintenance operations for their plant in Sandton, Gauteng . This leadership role is responsible for managing the maintenance team, ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of all plant machinery and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in industrial maintenance, proven leadership capabilities, and a deep understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance strategies. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing maintenance plans, managing budgets, and ensuring adherence to safety and operational standards. This position requires a dedicated individual committed to operational excellence and team development.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise, mentor, and manage a team of maintenance technicians and engineers, ensuring efficient workflow and task allocation.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all plant machinery and equipment.
• Oversee the scheduling and execution of routine maintenance, repairs, and overhauls to minimize downtime.
• Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a culture of safety within the maintenance department.
• Manage the maintenance budget, including parts procurement, vendor contracts, and labor costs, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and automation system issues.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, asset history, and spare parts inventory.
• Collaborate with production and engineering departments to support operational goals and implement improvement initiatives.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing training and development for the maintenance team.

Requirements

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent extensive experience.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in industrial maintenance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Proven experience in developing and managing comprehensive maintenance strategies (preventive, predictive).
• Strong knowledge of industrial machinery, mechanical systems, electrical systems, and automation controls.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software.
• Demonstrated understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations within an industrial setting.
• Ability to manage budgets and control maintenance costs effectively.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and be based in or willing to relocate to the Sandton, Gauteng area.
