Qualifications

• 7+ years of mechanical maintenance experience in industrial manufacturing or processing environments.
• Experience with CMMS and maintenance planning processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage preventative and predictive maintenance programs for mechanical systems and equipment.

About the Role

Our client, a major industrial processing facility, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their operations in Soweto, Gauteng. This role is essential for ensuring the optimal functioning and longevity of all mechanical equipment and machinery within the plant. You will be responsible for developing and implementing preventative and predictive maintenance strategies, troubleshooting complex mechanical failures, and leading maintenance projects to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency. The ideal candidate possesses extensive hands‑on experience, strong diagnostic skills, and a deep understanding of industrial mechanical systems. This is a vital role for maintaining the integrity of critical infrastructure in Soweto, Gauteng.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive preventative and predictive maintenance programs for mechanical systems and equipment.
• Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for mechanical failures and equipment malfunctions.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably within an industrial processing or manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication, and rotating equipment.
• Demonstrated ability in root cause analysis and failure investigation.
• Experience with predictive maintenance technologies (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography) is highly desirable.
• Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be willing to work shifts and be on call as required by operational needs.
