The ideal candidate has a mechanical or electrical engineering background with at least 7 years in industrial maintenance, including 3 years in supervision. CMMS proficiency and strong leadership are essential for driving safe, cost-effective maintenance.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client, a leading manufacturing company, is looking for a proactive and experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance operations at their facility in Midrand, Gauteng . This critical role involves managing all aspects of plant and equipment maintenance, ensuring maximum uptime, operational efficiency, and adherence to safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in mechanical and electrical systems, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven ability to develop and implement effective preventive and predictive maintenance programs. You will lead a team of skilled technicians and engineers, driving a culture of proactive maintenance and continuous improvement to support the company's production goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance program for all plant machinery and equipment.
• Supervise and coordinate the activities of the maintenance team, including technicians, electricians, and engineers.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Manage spare parts inventory and procurement processes for maintenance supplies and equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system failures, providing timely and effective solutions.
• Oversee planned maintenance schedules, minimizing production downtime.
• Develop and manage the maintenance department budget, controlling costs and optimizing resource allocation.
• Implement and utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for tracking work orders, asset history, and maintenance performance.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and provide training and development opportunities for maintenance staff.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations related to maintenance operations.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in industrial maintenance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
• Proficiency in using CMMS software and other relevant maintenance management tools.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Solid understanding of health and safety regulations in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaunt effectively with internal departments and external vendors.
• Experience with specific manufacturing equipment relevant to the industry is a plus.
