Placements24 seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain robust Java backend systems in a hybrid Polokwane setting. You will contribute to scalable architectures, implement RESTful services, and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience with a strong focus on Java.
• Proficiency with the Spring ecosystem, particularly Spring Boot.
• Strong understanding of OOP principles and design patterns.
• Experience designing and building RESTful web services.
• Solid knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and SQL.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and related technologies.
• Experience with version control systems like Git.
• Knowledge of testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito).
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for hybrid teamwork.
• Experience in Polokwane, Limpopo area is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement enterprise-level backend applications using Java and related frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot).
• Write clean, efficient, maintainable, and well-documented code adhering to industry best practices.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs for seamless integration with various services and applications.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and other engineers to define software requirements and solutions.
• Conduct code reviews, providing constructive feedback to enhance code quality and team knowledge.
• Optimize application performance, identify and resolve bottlenecks, and ensure system scalability.
• Participate in the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment and maintenance.
• Troubleshoot and debug complex technical issues in production and development environments.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and decisions to ensure robust and scalable system design.
• Mentor junior software engineers, fostering their technical growth and adherence to standards.
