Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to manage and maintain IT infrastructure in Queenstown. You will deploy, configure, troubleshoot, and proactively maintain server systems, networks, and related technologies.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience, strong Windows Server and Linux skills, and solid knowledge of networking. You will ensure security, backups, and reliable IT support while collaborating with junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator or in a similar IT role.
• Proficiency in managing Windows Server and Linux environments.
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols and hardware (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory).
• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain server operating systems (Windows Server, Linux) and related applications.
• Manage network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Implement and maintain system security measures, including antivirus, intrusion detection, and access control.
• Perform regular system backups and ensure data recovery procedures are effective.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues proactively to minimize downtime.
• Provide technical support and guidance to users and junior IT staff.
