Placements24 is seeking a Senior Instrumentation Engineer for our client in Polokwane, Limpopo. The role focuses on design, calibration, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems to optimize process safety and efficiency.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in process instrumentation within mining, chemical, or manufacturing environments, with strong SIS and DCS/PLC experience. On-site role with potential site travel offers challenging industrial exposure.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of progressive instrumentation engineering experience in an industrial process environment (mining, chemical, manufacturing).
• Deep knowledge of process control, instrumentation hardware (sensors, transmitters, valves), and control loops.
• Experience with DCS/PLC configuration and troubleshooting in industrial settings.
• Strong understanding of SIS and SIL requirements.
• Ability to read P&IDs, electrical schematics, and specs.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership abilities.

Responsabilités

• Design, specify, and implement instrumentation and control systems (transmitters, valves, sensors, analyzers).
• Develop and maintain P&ID, loop diagrams, and cause & effect matrices.
• Configure and troubleshoot DCS and PLCs for instrumentation.
• Develop calibration procedures and maintenance strategies for critical instrumentation.
• Ensure compliance with ISA/IEC standards and SIS safety regulations.
• Conduct root cause analysis for instrumentation issues and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with process/ mechanical engineers and operations.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff.
• Manage instrumentation projects, vendor selection, and installation oversight.
• Stay updated on trends in process instrumentation and control.
• Develop and deliver training for operations and maintenance staff.
• Maintain accurate documentation for instrumentation assets.
