Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Instrumentation Engineer for its Polokwane operations. You'll calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot process instrumentation and control systems on-site, collaborating with process engineers, operators, and maintenance teams to ensure safety, efficiency and product quality.

The role offers hands-on exposure in a key industrial hub of Limpopo. Minimum 3–5 years in industrial instrumentation, a relevant bachelor’s degree, and strong knowledge of DCS/PLC systems, sensors

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in industrial instrumentation and control systems.
• Proficient in calibrating and maintaining sensors, transmitters and control valves.
• Strong understanding of process control principles and feedback loops.
• Experience with DCS or PLC-based systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, maintain and repair process instruments (pressure, temp, flow, level).
• Troubleshoot faults in instrumentation and control loops to minimize downtime.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for instrumentation assets.
• Ensure instrumentation activities comply with safety policies and regulations.
• Collaborate with process engineers and operators to optimize performance.
• Maintain calibration/maintenance records using CMMS.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and skilled Instrumentation Engineer to join their industrial operations team in Polokwane . This role is essential for the calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of process instrumentation and control systems, ensuring the accurate measurement and control of critical industrial parameters. You will work on-site, interacting directly with plant equipment and collaborating with operations and maintenance teams to maintain high levels of safety, efficiency, and product quality. This position offers a hands-on opportunity to apply your expertise within a key industrial hub in Limpopo .

Key Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, maintain, and repair a wide range of process instruments, including pressure, temperature, flow, and level sensors.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose faults in instrumentation and control loops, implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for all instrumentation assets.
• Ensure all instrumentation activities comply with company safety policies, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
• Work closely with process engineers and operators to optimize instrument performance and control strategies.
• Maintain accurate records of calibration, maintenance, and repair activities using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in industrial instrumentation and control systems.
• Proficiency in calibrating and maintaining various types of sensors, transmitters, and control valves.
• Strong understanding of process control principles and feedback loops.
• Experience with distributed control systems (DCS) or PLC-based systems is advantageous.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) and technical specifications.
