Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Instrumentation and Control Engineer for our Upington facility. You will design, implement, and maintain instrumentation and control systems to ensure safe and efficient operation of energy infrastructure.

You will collaborate with process engineers and operations teams, develop PLC and DCS logic, calibrate instruments, and ensure compliance with IEC 61508/61511 where applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 6 years in instrumentation and control engineering.
• Proven PLC and DCS programming experience.
• Ability to read P&IDs, electrical schematics and control diagrams.
• Knowledge of IEC 61508/61511 is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, specify, and implement process instrumentation, control loops and automation systems.
• Develop and maintain control system logic including PLC programming and HMI configuration.
• Calibration, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on instruments and devices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate and upgrade control systems.
• Ensure compliance with instrumentation standards and safety guidelines.
