Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Information Security Analyst for a remote-first technology firm. You will safeguard digital assets, implement security controls, and lead incident response with a focus on risk management and compliance.

You will collaborate with IT, development, and legal teams from across South Africa, including the Tembisa via Gauteng area. The role emphasizes proactive threat detection, SIEM management, and secure deployment of new technologies in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field.
• Master's degree is a plus.
• 5-7 years of progressive information security experience.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 27001 / NIST and compliance standards.
• Experience with SIEM, EDR, DLP, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Scripting skills (Python, PowerShell) for automation preferred.
• CISSP/CISM/GSEC certifications are highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain security policies, standards, and procedures.
• Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to mitigate threats.
• Monitor alerts and respond to incidents in a timely manner.
• Design security controls for networks, systems, apps, and data.
• Manage security tools including SIEM, EDR, and firewalls.
• Provide security awareness training and promote a security culture.
• Collaborate with IT to ensure secure configurations and deployments.
• Assist in incident response planning and forensic activities as needed.
• Contribute to improving the overall security posture of the organization.
• Stay updated on cybersecurity trends and best practices.
