Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Analyst for a fully remote role within South Africa. You will protect digital assets, monitor security systems, and respond to incidents while implementing controls and developing security strategies for a Banking & Finance client.

The role requires significant experience in threat intelligence, incident response, and security architecture, with collaboration across a global security team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• 5+ years in cybersecurity operations, incident response, or threat analysis.
• Strong knowledge of networking, security architectures, and attack vectors.
• Proficiency with SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar), EDR, and vulnerability scanners.
• Cloud security experience with AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, GIAC, or OSCP are desirable.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to work remotely in a Banking & Finance context.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security infrastructure (SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls) for security events and anomalies.
• Investigate and respond to security incidents with root-cause analysis and containment.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and remediate weaknesses.
• Develop and implement security policies, standards, and procedures.
• Stay updated on threats, trends, and technologies.
• Design and deploy security solutions to protect against APTs and malware.
• Develop and deliver security awareness training to employees.
• Collaborate with IT and business teams to embed security across the organization.
• Manage and maintain security tools and technologies.
• Contribute to incident response plans and business continuity strategies.
