Placements24 is seeking a Senior Information Security Analyst to join a remote-first cybersecurity team in South Africa. You will safeguard digital assets, shape security strategies, and respond to threats across the organization.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in information security, strong knowledge of ISO 27001, NIST, CIS Controls, and hands-on experience with SIEM, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, and EDR. Remote work offers flexibility and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in information security with proven risk management and incident response background.
• In-depth knowledge of ISO 27001, NIST, and CIS Controls.
• Experience with security tools including SIEM, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, and EDR solutions.
• Strong understanding of network security, cryptography, and secure coding practices.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or GSEC are a strong plus.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and vulnerability analyses across systems and applications.
• Develop, implement, and maintain security policies, standards, and procedures.
• Monitor security alerts and incident response activities, leading investigations and remediation efforts.
• Design and manage security controls, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security solutions.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure secure system configurations and secure development practices.
• Stay abreast of the latest security threats, trends, and technologies, providing recommendations for improvement.
• Educate and train staff on security best practices and awareness programs.
• Perform regular security audits and penetration testing.
• Manage security documentation and reporting to senior management.
