Job summary

Placements24 in Durban is seeking a Supply Chain Industrial Engineer to optimize our client’s logistics network. The role blends on-site analysis with remote strategic planning to improve warehousing, inventory accuracy, and transportation design.

You will analyze end-to-end processes, develop data-driven improvements, design layouts, and implement lean solutions while collaborating with managers and external partners to drive performance and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in industrial engineering with a focus on supply chain or logistics.
• Ability to analyze complex operational data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
• Proficiency with supply chain simulation software and data tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Power BI).
• Strong knowledge of lean principles and their application in supply chains.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Experience with WMS and familiarity with TMS is advantageous.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Analyze end-to-end supply chain processes including warehousing, inventory, and transportation.
• Identify inefficiencies and propose data-driven solutions to improve performance.
• Develop and implement process improvements to reduce lead times and costs.
• Design and optimize warehouse layouts and material flow.
• Use simulation and modeling tools to test proposed changes.
• Collaborate with logistics managers and external partners to implement solutions.
• Develop and maintain performance metrics and dashboards.
• Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective actions.
