About the Role

Our client, a leading facilities management company, is seeking a highly experienced and certified Senior HVAC Technician to oversee and manage the maintenance and repair of complex heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across commercial properties in the Rustenburg, North West region. This pivotal role requires a professional with extensive knowledge of a wide range of HVAC equipment, including chillers, boilers, air handling units, and control systems. You will be responsible for leading a small team, conducting advanced diagnostics, performing intricate repairs, and ensuring optimal system performance, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort. This position is critical to maintaining a safe, comfortable, and productive environment for tenants and employees within our client's managed properties. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate strong leadership qualities, excellent technical acumen, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and preventative maintenance. While the role is primarily field-based, occasional administrative tasks and team coordination may require remote or office-based work, hence the hybrid designation. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of HVAC technicians, providing guidance and technical support.
• Perform complex diagnostics and troubleshooting on commercial HVAC systems, including electrical, mechanical, and control components.
• Conduct preventative maintenance, servicing, and repairs on chillers, boilers, air handlers, rooftop units, and other HVAC equipment.
• Install and commission new HVAC systems and components.
• Ensure all work performed complies with relevant codes, regulations, and company safety standards.
• Manage work orders, schedule maintenance tasks, and maintain accurate service records.
• Optimize HVAC system performance for energy efficiency and occupant comfort.
• Respond to emergency service calls and resolve critical issues promptly.
• Liaise with property managers and clients to communicate service status and recommendations.
• Stay updated on the latest HVAC technologies and best practices.

Requirements

• A relevant Trade Qualification in HVAC or Refrigeration, with professional certification.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience as an HVAC Technician, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
• Extensive knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, VAV systems, and building automation systems (BAS).
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting HVAC schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex technical challenges.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Must be based in or able to reliably commute to Rustenburg, North West.
• Familiarity with relevant South African building codes and environmental regulations.
• Experience with various control system protocols (e.g., BACnet, Modbus) is highly desirable.
