Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Senior Field Service Technician to join our team in Midrand, Gauteng. You will perform complex diagnostics, troubleshooting and repair of a wide range of HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, and control systems, while ensuring safety and efficiency.

You will conduct preventative maintenance, install and commission new equipment, interpret technical drawings, and respond to emergencies to minimize downtime for clients.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on experience in installation, maintenance and repair of commercial/industrial HVAC systems.
• Trade certifications in Refrigeration/AC (NTC/Trade Test).
• Strong ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex diagnostics, troubleshooting and repair of HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, AHUs, and control systems.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
• Install and commission new HVAC equipment and integrate with building management systems.
• Interpret technical drawings, blueprints and schematics to identify components and configurations.
• Respond to emergency service calls and minimize downtime for clients in Midrand/Gauteng.
• Document all service activities using company software and reporting tools.
• Provide guidance and support to junior technicians, fostering a collaborative team.
• Maintain a clean and organized service vehicle and stock of parts and tools.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial and industrial HVAC systems.
• Proven expertise in troubleshooting and repairing complex mechanical and electrical systems, with a strong understanding of refrigeration cycles and control theory.
• Possession of relevant trade certifications (e.g., NTC, Trade Test) in Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, or a related field.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail and a methodical approach to diagnostics.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients and team members.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a field service setting in Gauteng.
