Job summary

Placements24 in Benoni, South Africa, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC) to lead design, specification and project delivery of complex HVAC systems for commercial, institutional, and industrial buildings. You will guide design teams, ensure technical excellence, and foster strong client relationships in Gauteng and beyond.

The role requires a Pr Eng registration with ECSA, a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, and at least eight years of HVAC design and project management

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is required.
• 8+ years of progressive HVAC design and project management experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of HVAC systems for diverse building types.
• Develop detailed HVAC calculations, drawings, schematics, and specs.
• Conduct energy modeling and ensure energy efficiency compliance.
• Select equipment including chillers, boilers, AHUs, and controls.
• Manage project scopes, timelines, and budgets; mentor juniors.
• Coordinate with architects and other engineers; oversee site inspections.
• Support commissioning and handover; monitor emerging HVAC tech and standards.
