Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in HVAC to lead design and project engineering in Stellenbosch, Western Cape. The role combines office collaboration with remote design work, focusing on energy-efficient HVAC solutions for high-profile projects.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in HVAC design, proficiency with HAP/Trace 700, AutoCAD MEP, Revit MEP, and strong leadership and client-management skills. A Pr.Eng. designation is highly preferred.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in HVAC system design and project engineering.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) designation is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC codes and standards (SANS, ASHRAE).

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of HVAC systems for commercial, institutional, and residential projects.
• Perform load calculations, system selection, ductwork and piping design, and equipment specification.
• Use energy modeling software to optimize performance and meet energy efficiency standards.
• Prepare detailed design documents: drawings, specs, schedules.
• Coordinate mechanical designs with electrical, structural, and architectural teams.
• Oversee construction administration: RFIs, submittals, site inspections.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers on projects.
• Manage project timelines and budgets for mechanical components.
• Stay updated with industry trends and building codes.
