About the Role

A leading building services engineering consultancy with a strong presence in Gauteng is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer with a specialization in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems. Based in Benoni , this role involves leading the design, specification, and project management of complex HVAC solutions for a diverse range of commercial, institutional, and industrial buildings. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of HVAC systems, including air conditioning, heating, ventilation, and refrigeration, for various building types.

• Oversee the work of junior engineers and design technicians, providing technical guidance and mentorship.

• Assist in the commissioning and handover of HVAC systems, ensuring optimal performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering, with a significant focus on HVAC system design and project management.
• In-depth knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles as applied to HVAC.
• Proficiency in HVAC design software (e.g., Revit MEP, AutoCAD, HAP, Trace 700) and energy simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of building codes, ASHRAE standards, SANS, and other relevant regulations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively under pressure.
• Experience in sustainable building design and green building certifications (e.g., LEED, Green Star) is advantageous.
